What you Did (And Happy Holidays!)

So this is what you did after my last post:  you sent in so much stuff that we were able to:

1. Send three boxes (170 pounds) up to Jimmy Hikok School in Kugluktuk.  The principal emailed me that she received the items and has already distributed them.  Here is an excerpt from her note to me when I asked if she had received the boxes:

Yes we did and the children are using them regularly. On Friday each child received an early present  - a warm hat and socks. The mittens we go through very quickly but all are greatly appreciated and will go to good use.

2. Dropped off blankets and crafting tools to Larga - as you know, they are very much appreciated.  They will be distributed close to Christmas.

3. Dropped many many children's sweaters to the Inuit Children's Centre.  This one was very special. I talked to the young women who work there and then told me that they will be distributed to families during the holidays.  One of the young women expressed to me again how there is an appreciation for hand-made - this is something that binds all of us together, isn't it?

4. Tomorrow I will be dropping another 50 pounds with one of our contacts who will carry a box to Iqaluit this week.

All that to say, collectively, your contributions were gifts to about 200 people (I am likely underestimating)...I am so grateful to know all of you.

Our next shipment will be going out through the doctors in very early Jan - the last date to get items would be Jan 7.  If you can't make it, fear not, there will be other shipments around March.

Okay, once again, I'm just going to put names beside photos but please know that on packing night (thank you Rebecca, Ruth, Carlene, Catriona and Suzanne) we loved and commented on everything.

Some bags as they come into the house...

More and more stuff before we sort!

These are the vacuum pack bags before we suck them up.  I love these bags - basically stuff shrinks to a third the size which is so helpful for us and our sponsors.

Sealing boxes at the end of the night!
